    Porvorim Police have busted a gang of thieves involved in motor cycles and mobile theft cases and arrested following accused persons.
    (1) Mr. Shabbir Ballur s/o. Hazrat Ali, age: 24 years, r/o. Verem, Bardez-Goa.
    (2) Mr. Sunil BK s/o. Gajbir, age: 22 years, r/o. Calangute, native of Nepal.
    On 06.01.2024 in the afternoon, two offences vide Porvorim Police Station
    Crime No. 02/2024 U/s. 379 IPC and Cr.No. 03/2024 U/s. 379 IPC were registered, wherein two different motor cycles bearing No. GA-07-Y-7511 Make Honda Hornet and (2) No. KA-71-H-0711 Make Hero Delux, both valued Rs. 1,60,000/- were reported to be stolen from the jurisdiction of Porvorim Police Station.
    During the course of investigation, an information was received that the above accused persons are suspected to be involved in motor cycles theft cases.
    As such, police team headed by PSI. Mandar Parab, and other staff (1) PC-Mahadev Naik, (2) PC- Utkarsh Desai, (3) PC-Nitesh Gawade, and (4) PC-Yogesh Shinde, laid a trap and the above accused persons were apprehended at Verem and thereafter they were brought at the police station.
    During the
    interrogation, they confessed to have stolen motor cycles at Porvorim and other areas.
    During the course of investigation, two stolen motor cycles involved in above cases were recovered from above accused persons. Besides, two more stolen motor cycles and 06 mobile phones of different makes have also been recovered from them.
    The value of the recovered property is Rs. 4,00,000/- (
    Rupees Four lakhs).
    The accused suspected to be involved in more theft cases taken place in other police station jurisdictions.
    Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of P.I. Rahul T.
    Parab, under the overall supervision of SDPO/Porvirim Shri. V.P. Karpe. and S.P. North shri. Nidhin Valsan.
