    Goa Tourism announces dates of Carnaval, Shigmo and Shiv Jayanti 2024.

    Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, Goa, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte convened a meeting to discuss the organization of Carnaval Float Parades, Shigmo Float Parades and Shiv Jayanti, at the Department of Tourism in the presence of Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Director of Tourism, MLA of Mapusa, Mr. Joshua Dsouza, Panjim Mayor, Mr. Rohit Monsserate, Empowered Committee members, all Municipal Council members and Elected committees. The meeting focused on various aspects such as logistics, coordination, and promotion of these cultural events. The aim of the meeting was to ensure the successful execution of both the Carnaval Float Parades, Shigmo Float Parades and Shiv Jayanti, which are important cultural attractions in Goa. The Minister, along with relevant stakeholders, exchanged ideas and suggestions to enhance the experience for both locals and tourists attending these parades. Overall, the meeting aimed to strengthen Goa’s position as a vibrant tourist destination renowned for its rich cultural heritage.

    The Carnaval will be held in Porvorim, Panjim, Margao, Vasco, Mapusa from 9th February till 13th February 2024 respectively with an aim of celebrating the festival with as much tradition and cultural significance as possible. The appointed committee will actively work to create a memorable and authentic experience for all; along with the infrastructure amount which is Rs. 20,00,000/-.

    Shigmotsav will be held in Ponda, Calangute, Sankhali, Bicholim, Valpoi, Panjim, Porvorim, Pernem, Canacona, Vasco, Shiroda, Curchorem, Quepem, Dharbandora, Margao, Mapusa, Sanguem and Cuncolim from 26th March to 8th April respectively. The focus will be to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Goa through the Shigmo Festival. The festival will include folk dances, individual fancy dress competitions, and active participation from all with an aim that supports and encourages youth involvement in this festival. Winners prizes have been reworked with an increase in regards to Chitrarath of Rs. 75,000/-, Romtamel of Rs. 75,000/-, Folk Dance of Rs. 25,000/-, Individual Fancy Dress for Senior and Juniors of Rs. 10,000/-. Participants will get Rs. 10,000/- per event which will be applicable only when they are a part of all 5 main towns and 50% of the minor towns. Infrastructure expenditure for Panjim has also been increased to Rs. 25,00,000/-, Margao, Vasco and Ponda to Rs. 15,00,000 and remaining minor towns to Rs. 10,00,000

    To mark the 350th coronation anniversary of the maratha warrior King Chhatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj, Goa Tourism will be celebrating Shiv Jayanti festival on 19th February 2024. With a aim to make this celebration successful, funds will be allocated to scale up the festival and ensure a grand celebration worthy of Shiv Jayanti in Panjim, Margao, Mapusa, Mormugao, Ponda, Sankhali, Porvorim, Bicholim

    The Minister of Tourism, Goa, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte concluded by expressing his gratitude to all participants and looks forward to a successful implementation of the discussed initiatives.
