Disability Rights Association of Goa (DRAG) has demanded immediate ban on the Hindi comedy film ‘Aankh Micholi’ produced by Sony Pictures for mocking persons with disability and their disability.

DRAG has written to both the District Collectors and State Commissioner for Persons with Disability to ban the said movie in Goa with immediate effect as it makes a mockery of persons with disability and their disability and is in violation of Section 92 of Rights of Persons with Disability Act 2016.

DRAG has written to Ministries of Information and Broadcasting and Social Justice demanding immediate removal of chairman of Censor Board for giving certification to movies which mock persons with disability and show them in a bad light thereby nullifying the efforts of Central and state government and NGOs in empowerment of persons with disability over the years.

DRAG has also filed police complaint against the producer director and cast of the said film for mocking persons with disability and their disability and violating Section 92 of Rights of Persons with Disability Act 2016. DRAG has warned multiplexes in Goa of criminal action under section 92 if they show the said film.
