    Calangute Police successfully apprehended four individuals involved in snatching of gold chain from the neck of a tourist which he was on leisure trip to Goa at Calangute. The above incident occurred in the early hour of today i.e. on 21.12.2023. As per the complainant Mr. Santhosha H.A. based from Karnataka state, while he was at Calangute near Little Goa Restaurant, four unknown accused person initially snatched his OPPO Reno mobile phone and cash of Rs. 19,000/- and later snatched away his two gold chains which he was wearing in his neck all worth Rs. 1,95,000/- approximately.

    During the course of investigation the staff of Calangute Police Station were briefed about the incident occurred and accordingly teams headed under PSI Akshay Parsekar was formed to identify and locate the accused persons involved in the crime. Police Team later gathered intelligence and suspected accused persons by name 1) Morsalin s/o Saidul Molla, age 20 years r/o n/o Dakshin Dinajpur West Bengal, 2) Raju Molla s/o Shankar Molla, age 19 years r/o n/o Dakshin Dinajpur West Bengal, 3) Akthar Ali s/o Moliya Ali, age 24 years r/o n/o Dakshin Dinajpur West Bengal and 4) Rakiful Mondal s/o Saidul Mondal, age 19 years r/o Dakshin Dinajpur West Bengal were located and upon their personal search found in their possession two gold chains in broken state. All four accused persons were then brought at Calangute Police Station, upon which they all admitted to have actively taken part in commission of the crime. Accordingly the stolen property i.e. two gold chains which were recovered from their possession valued at Rs. 1,60,000/- approximately were attached under the Panchanama and further investigation in respect of recovery of remaining stolen property is in progress.

    Calangute Police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code in response to the complaint. The arrested individuals are being produced before the Hon’ble JMFC Mapusa for obtaining Police remand.

    HC-4692 Prashant Chopdekar, PC-6118 Amir Garad, PC-6644 Vijay Naik, PC-6418 Mayur Gawde, PC-7151 Nitesh Salgaonkar, PC-7621 Abhay Chinchinkar and PC-8304 Babuso Salgaonkar did commendable work in swiftly apprehending the accused persons under the Supervision of PSI Akshay Parsekar of Calangute Police Station.

    Further investigation is in progress with HC-4692 Prashant Chopdekar under the Supervision of PI Calangute Police Station and SDPO Porvorim
