Pernem constituency has been reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) for the last several years. From now on, Pernem constituency should not be reserved for SCs. A resolution was passed on Sunday in the Dhargal Panchayat Gram Sabha that it should be open to the general Public.The law giving 33 per cent reservation to women in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha was recently passed. However, the Dhargall Gram Sabha opposed the reservation of Pedne constituency for SCs.
Various panchayat gram sabhas were held in the state on Sunday. The people took the panch as well as the sarpanch to the edge over the village issue.
