A formal complaint has been submitted at the Old Goa Police Station by social worker Adv. Shaileish Gawas, raising concerns over alleged offensive and vulgar comments made against Hindu gods and goddesses on social media platforms.
In his complaint, Gawas stated that several Facebook posts containing derogatory remarks against Hindu deities have been circulating online, which he described as “unacceptable and intolerable.” He emphasized that such content has the potential to disturb communal harmony and create a negative atmosphere in society.
The complaint urges police authorities to conduct a thorough investigation through the cyber cell and take strict action against individuals responsible for operating these accounts. Gawas has also called for appropriate legal action under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita, along with public apologies from the accused.
Names of certain social media accounts allegedly involved have been mentioned in the complaint, and printed screenshots of the offensive posts have been submitted as evidence.
The Old Goa Police have acknowledged receipt of the complaint, and further investigation is expected to follow.
