The Indian Water Works Association (Goa Centre) successfully organized a special event to mark World Water Day and Earth Day at DoubleTree by Hilton Goa – Panaji on Friday evening.
The programme brought together officials, engineers, and environmental stakeholders to highlight the importance of sustainable water management and environmental conservation.
Subhash Phal Dessai, Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare, Drinking Water, Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and River Navigation, Government of Goa, attended the event as Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the need for responsible water usage and collective efforts to protect natural resources.
Guest of Honour Sandip K Prabhu Chodnekar, Principal Chief Engineer, PWD Goa, spoke on infrastructure challenges and innovations in water supply systems. The keynote address was delivered by J N Ambikar, who shared insights on sustainable engineering practices and long-term water conservation strategies.
The event underscored the urgency of addressing water scarcity and environmental degradation, with experts calling for community participation, policy support, and technological advancements.
The programme was supported by Welspun Group, reflecting industry collaboration in promoting environmental awareness and sustainable development initiatives.
