Calangute Village Panchayat has become the first panchayat in Goa to file a police complaint against Gautam Khattar over his alleged derogatory remarks on St. Francis Xavier.
A delegation led by Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira, along with ZP Member Franzilia Rodrigues, Panchayat Members and local residents, submitted the complaint at the Calangute Police Station.
They have demanded the registration of an FIR against Khattar as well as the organisers of the Mormugao event held on April 18.
The panchayat stated that the remarks have hurt religious sentiments and disturbed communal harmony in the state. It urged authorities to take strict and immediate action to maintain peace and unity.
